Which Diet Strategy Works Best Depends on…
In today’s myriad market of weight loss strategies, it’s important to note that just because a diet works for someone else does not mean it will work for you. Much of it depends on whether you are insulin sensitive or insulin resistant. According to Stanford’s vegetarian researcher Christopher Gardner, insulin resistant dieters will lose weight faster on low carb, high fat diet. He explains that a low carb diet actually increases the HDL while lowering the triglycerides and LDL in insulin resistant dieters. Contrarily to popular belief, a high carb diet increases the triglycerides and lowers the HDL for insulin resistant dieters, but when these dieters added avocados and seeds to their diets, their triglycerides are back down and their HDL are back up.
Of all the popular diets on the market (Atkins, Zone, Ornish, South Beach, etc.), he notes the Atkin’s diet is the most effective for insulin resistant dieters in losing weight. However, most low carb dieters tend to revert into a into a high protein diet and this where most Atkin dieters get into BIG TROUBLE. Gardner WARNS,”Breaking down and/or elimating excess protein involves eliminating nitrogen, which will increase demands on the kidney, and may leech calcium from bones.”
Unlike fat and carbs, protein cannot be stored in the body. If one does not use up the excess protein, then the excess protein turns into nitrogen and into ammnoia and then out as urine. In the kidney, there is something called the glomerular, a “strainer or mesh” that filters out the protein from leaking into the urine. The more excess protein one consumes and does not use up, the more strain is placed on that “strainer and mesh”; thus, increasing the chances of leaking protein out into the urine. Protein are antibodies, cholesterols, “muscle food”, estrogen, testerone, insulin, etc. Once there is a hole, these protein leak out into the urine and will cause an array of ailments. Just think what can happen if someone’s antibodies or sex hormones start leaking out. And here is something to note: Surgeons cannot repair organs. There is no drug on the market that will repair any organ. At best, surgeons can only perform organ transplants.

Note: Gardner’s video does not the concept of ketosis, which is commonly associated with the Atkins. Ketosis is not only unhealthy but will lead one into becoming diabetic. Diabetes affect all systems in the human body. More on this topic later….
Thanks for posting it. Everything that is extreme, like very low or very high, is unhealthy.
Balance is the key. Still the key for long-term health benefits.
Three weeks on the Atkins diet changed my kidney function stat. Thank God I was due for blood work before things got really out of hand. Learned a lesson. Thanks for all your info. Marge
You are all welcome.
