It seems that food isn’t the only culprit that can make you fat. Medicine can as well, and alot of people who take the popular anti-inflammatory drug Prednisone for their severe allergies, asthma, acne, bronchitis, or rashes do not know about Prednisone’s nasty side effect - WEIGHT GAIN! Puggy faces, hump back necks, and abdominal fluid retention are just some of the many side effects of Prednisone. Stretch marks are the additional if you care to view these photos.

It’s important to know that once on Prednisone, one cannot abruptly stop taking Prednisone or else one will experience shock. Prednisone is a corticosteroid (aka. steroid) that shuts down the aldolsterone that regulates the sodium/potassium in the body. Without adequate sodium, one will not have enough blood flow, which means one will go into shock.
To get off of Prednisone, the doctor has to taper off the dosages gradually to get the adrenal gland working once again. Note that not everyone can get off of this drug. And note that legal or illegal, steroids do alter the body’s hormones, which in turn will alter the body’s structure - chest, thigh, abdominal, butt, face, etc. If you don’t want to “screw” with your body’s structure, don’t “screw” with your hormones. Ask your doctor if a non-steroid version of the drug is available instead. You will be surprised how many popular drugs do contain steroids, ie. prescription strength nose sprays.
