Slightly larger than the size of a kiwi with the taste of a cross between a very sweet “gel like watermelon” and very sweet pear, prickly pears or “tuna” are basically fruits grown on a cactus that contain no starch. With just 42 calories per fruit and a low glycemic load of 2, prickly pear is ideal fruit for diabetics as one study has shown that a regular consumption of prickly pears may reduce one’s glucose by as much as 50%. They can be purchased in supermarkets located in the desert regions, such as in Arizona or from a Mexican grocery store.

The next time you eat your meals, try eating with someone you can have a good conversation with. That’s because it takes the brain 20 minutes to tell your body that your stomach is full. If you engage in “meal conversations,” you are going to end up eating less that by the time those 20 minutes are up, your brain is already telling you that you’re full. That’s a tip from food journalist Michael Pollan.

Just remember to eat with your mouth close or you will choke. That’s because whenever you eat with your mouth close, the sphicter is available to guide your food down the right way. Whenever you talk or whenever your mouth is open, that sphicter is not available, and the food will then go down the wrong way.

1) Most honey bees are fed with a mixture of pollen substitute with at least 50% corn syrup.
2) There is no such thing as raw honey in liquid form because all liquid honey has to be slightly heated in order to pour into jars.

3) The darkness of honey does not necessary indicate more antioxidant. Flower petals come in different colors.

4) Honey is actually bee “vomit”. It’s not because the bees are ill, but because that’s how their digestive systems work. They “vomit” instead of “poop” honey out.
